The cedar log gifted to the Muwekma Ohlone was brought to California in the early 1920's to be used at Port Chicago, where ammunition was shipped overseas. Weighing over 2000 pounds, it was encrusted with barnacles, cement and sea shells and pierced by iron rods. Masterfully transformed by sculptor Shane Eagleton, it became a symbol of rebirth and a vision of healing mankind's injustices to cultures that have been changed by outside forces.
