Prehistoric Beekeepers

We all know that humans tend to have a sweet tooth.

Which is why it’s no surprise that beekeeping and raids on wild hives go back thousands of years. Cave art near Valencia, Spain dating back 8,000-15,000 years ago depicts a woman collecting honey from a hive on a cliff while being swarmed by bees.

There are depictions of people gathering honey in Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia.

No matter what continent, wherever there have been humans and honey bees, chances are hives have been raided, people have been stung and honey was enjoyed.
